Gold likely interacts with quartz and silicate minerals at high temperature, making it more difficult to recover gold from the ore after roasting. A quartz-sulfide ore-gold powder mixture was roasted at different temperatures (600°C~750°C) and time (1~4 h) to investigate the cyanide leaching rate of gold in the roasting residue. The results show that quartz will be activated and interact with gold at high temperatures, making it difficult for gold in the roasting slag to be leached by cyanide. First-principles calculations show that the adsorption energy of Au atom on quartz (101) surface is -300.01 kJ/mol, and that the distance between Au-1 and Si-12 on quartz surface is 0.2264 nm, and that the electrons of Si-12 on quartz surface are converted to Au-1 atom. The population and bond length show that there is a bond between gold atoms and silicon atoms on the surface of quartz (101), which confirms the sintering test results. |
